environment. Cloverlea Kindergarten acknowledges Te Reo and Tikanga Maori
and provides equal opportunities to meet and respect the diverse needs
of the community. Parent involvement/partnership is encouraged in a supportive
environment with open communication taking place. All the children are
extended in their strengths and interests through Te Whaariki (NZ Early
Childhood Curriculum) including early literacy and numeracy, social interactions
and other knowledge/skills. * Our programme is based on the New Zealand Early Childhood curriculum Te Whaariki and provides accessible and affordable early childhood education for 3 and 4 year olds. * Music, art, creativity and outdoor play eg challenge courses, physical skills are included in our programme. We focus on each child’s interests, strengths and abilities. Each child has his/her own portfolio learning record containing artwork, photos, and observations and learning stories. * Teachers are qualified and through professional development are up to date with current teaching practice and are passionate about their work with children and families. * Children’s learning is enriched by excursions, community visitors, family gatherings, fun days etc. Partnership with the community and families/whanau is valued, all working together to support the children’s early childhood education. Families are involved with Kindergarten sessions, policy consultations, fundraising and fun social events. * Hands on learning experiences enable children to become competent, capable and confident learners. Skills including as social, peer tutoring, independence, leadership and positive work habits eg concentration are fostered in a nurturing environment.
Learning begins at home, and early childhood programmes outside the child’s own home play a significant role in extending early learning and in laying the foundations for successful future learning. Kindergarten location
