Cost and Accessibility

Accessibility and affordability have long been features of the Kindergarten philosophy and now it can be free!

With the introduction of the Government's initiative of providing "20 hours free" Early Childhood Education, Ruahine Kindergartens will be free from 16 July 2007 for 3 and 4 year olds.   No charge will be made if the "20 hours free" is used with our Kindergartens although optional charges will be made for "extras" such as excursions and portfolios. If a Parent chooses to use their "20 hours free" at another centre, and chooses for their child to attend Kindergarten for other hours, the cost is $1.00 per hour plus GST.

Kindergarten Committees may choose to undertake fundraising activities for major projects which will not be met by Government funding. Families are encouraged to participate in such activities for the benefit of the Kindergarten. This is also an opportunity for social interaction with Teachers and other families.
