Foxton Kindergarten is situated in the township of Foxton opposite Coley Street School, 40Km’s from Palmerston North on State Highway No. 1.
The Kindergarten has children attending from Foxton and the wider Community. Our children graduate to 9 Country and town schools in the area. Our Community is made up of rural and urban families. It is an economically thriving and diverse Community with people moving to Foxton from large cities for the relaxed beach life style.
The Kindergarten is set in very spacious grounds with mature trees and with farmland backing onto it. We have a large cheerful indoor space with a focus room that has been a Bear Cave – Indoor Sandpit – Christmas Room.
Our Philosophy is to provide a challenging stimulating environment where children will be empowered and extended to learn new skills/knowledge and to build on their own strengths and interests. We encourage children to achieve success and to become confident, competent, motivated learners. Our curriculum is based on the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum Te Whariki and a strong resource base.
We provide a welcoming environment, we have an open-door policy and our Whanau Room is available for Parents/Whanau and young children to use. We value and respect all Parents/Whanau contributions and encourage a partnership in the Kindergarten Community.
The Teachers work hard to provide a varied programme, which includes trips into the wider Community, links with local schools, entertainment, activities that extend on what the children are interested in. Community events/activities this year have included making a Float for Spring Fling Parade, visits to Clydesdale Museum, A & P Show Palmerston North, McDonalds, Pet Day, Foxton Museum, Special Persons Day and U Me Us Entertainers.
Fee: Use "20 hours free" or $1.00 per hour plus GST
