Welcome to Makino Kindergarten, a community of learners valuing all relationships and supporting children in their learning goals, encouraging individuality, creativity and thinking skills.

Our programme builds on children's strengths, interests and thinking. Concepts of literacy, numeracy and science are incorporated into spontaneous and planned activities.

Our collaborative approach recognises the importance of family contributions and participation in creating meaningful learning experiences for children. Our vision is to provide opportunities for children to engage in meaningful learning in the outdoor environment and encourage families/whaanau to contribute their funds of knowledge.

Rabbits, birds, turtle, newts and fish share our centre, helping children understand empathy and responsibility.

Makino is a creative kindergarten, fostering children's natural curiosity through a wealth of stimulating resources and activities which inspire young minds. We organise regular excursions, special and family events based on children's interests. We also welcome musicians, storytellers, magicians and other entertainers into our learning environment.
