Our programme is based
on the principles, goals and strands of the National Early Childhood Curriculum,
Te Whaariki.
Each child has their own portfolio which includes photographs, learning
stories, various observations, record of excursions and
visitors to kindergarten. These portfolios are on display at kindergarten
for parents and children to view at any time. Portfolios are presented
to children when they leave kindergarten.
In the morning sessions
we break into three groups twice a week. Once a week we work in our books
for example, recording via a drawing or a story (child’s voice)
a visitor to kindergarten or graphing eye colour etc. The other group
times may include drama, pre-maths activities, stories and comprehension.
Music, art, drama and creativity feature strongly in our programme.
Families are encouraged
to participate in kindergarten sessions, fundraising and fun events.
Some of our recent family events include:
• Multicultural lunch
• Fish and chip evening
• Bike-a-thon
• Grandparents, relatives and special people day
• Sausage sizzles
• Disco
• Special theme day eg. dress up day
Families on our waiting list can attend our playgroup held on Wednesday
afternoons. This is a great way for your children to
become familiar with the kindergarten environment and meet other children
and families.
You are welcome to
come and visit at any time, we would love to see you.
