Teachers are tops!
November 2010

The sun shone down on Friday October 29 as Riverdale Kindergarten celebrated the wonderful work of teachers on World Teachers' Day.

Prior to the special day, Riverdale Kindergarten teachers and children created a giant banner, which they strung up on the centre's front fence. The banner's message, "Riverdale Kindergarten values: teachers, children, learning", set the scene for what Head Teacher, Elaine Savage, described as an "absolutely awesome day".

Children presented teachers with certificates and enjoyed a shared morning tea before releasing colourful helium balloons with teacher appreciation messages.

Teachers received a special surprise when Ruahine Kindergartens Professional Service Managers, Sally Roberts and Gaylyn Campbell, showed up bearing chocolate and Coffee Club coffee vouchers as a token of appreciation for all their hard work.

Ruahine Kindergartens General Manager, Louise Bartholomew, said "Teachers choose a demanding, yet rewarding career and World Teachers' Day provides a wonderful opportunity to let our teachers know just how great we think they are".

Few professions have as profound an impact on our nation's future as teachers, and kindergarten teachers are responsible for instilling the foundation skills that children carry with them throughout their lives.

Although World Teachers' Day has been and gone for 2010, teachers do a fabulous job every day of the year, so, next time you see a teacher about, go ahead and flash them a smile beacuse, as children from Riverdale Kindergarten say, "teachers are great!"

See you at the Plant & Fun Fair!
July 2010

Purchase a plant, feast on some fabulous food and enjoy a fantastic day of family fun at Riverdale Kindergarten's annual Plant and Fun Fair to be held at St Matthew's Church, Saturday September 11th 2010.

The church hall will resemble a jungle with plenty of plants kindly donated by local nurseries. Other attractions include international food stands, cake stalls, a bouncy castle, fire truck rides, a petting zoo and a stock car.

All funds raised will go towards the innovative learning taking place at Riverdale Kindergarten.

Make sure you're part of the action. Get along to St Matthew's Church Saturday September 11 and have some fun supporting Riverdale Kindergarten.
