Cloverlea Kindergarten
News
Wednesday August 11 was an especially wacky one for children, teachers and families at Coverlea Kindergarten with snakes in the mailbox, teachers wearing pyjamas, crazy facepaint, silly songs and a wonderfully wacky feast.
Based on popular children's book, Wacky Wednesday, in which a boy wakes up to find the whole world's gone wacky, the kindergarten's annual silly day provides a bit of light-hearted fun.
Teacher Julie described the day as "lots of fun in the middle of winter" saying "children look forward to it so much they start counting down the sleeps".
"Everyone really gets into it. Parents, siblings and families all come along, and the children extend their own learning by asking questions", she said.

June 2010
Cloverlea Kindergarten celebrated the different cultures of their centre with a multi-cultural lunch on June 18th.
Everybody dressed up and had a lot of fun singing songs from different countries to all the parents and families who came along to share the special day. Leprechauns, fairies, cowgirls, cowboys, Australians, Scotsmen and New Zealanders all attended and enjoyed the yummy food together.
What a great way to celebrate all the interesting cultures at Cloverlea Kindergarten!

On the 3rd of June, children and teachers from Cloverlea Kindergarten welcomed visitors from Te Aroha Noa Family Centre.
Cloverlea Kindergarten visited Te Aroha Noa Family Centre in September 2009 and were made to feel very welcome. They were delighted to be able to sing the waiata they had learnt during this visit and have their guests sing back to them. Ariana welcomed the visitors to Cloverlea with a karakia.
After the visiting children said grace everybody shared some yummy kai provided by Cloverlea Kindergarten families. Unfortunately the weather was wet, but all children and adults participated in the activities and had a great time.
What a wonderful opportunity to make and share bicultural links within the community!

The marvels of learning at
Cloverlea Kindergarten
May 2010
Cloverlea Kindergarten welcomed a magical visitor into their learning environment May 8 2010. Zappo the Magician came along to teach children about the sea, the seabed, underwater plant life, sharks mermaids and submarines.
With magic tricks, songs, silly nonsense and lots of laughter children at Cloverlea learnt all about the importance of caring for the sea and creatures that live in it. They learnt that plastic bags must be recycled or put in the rubbish bin because if plastic is thrown into the sea it can get stuck in the throats of sharks, which can be very harmful.
Zappo incorporated the virtues of consideration, kindness, courage, patience, sharing, using good words and safe hands in his fun-filled educational show.
