Parkland Kindergarten is situated within the eastern sector of Palmerston North.
Parkland Kindergarten is located on the grounds of Parkland Primary School and has a close working relationship with the school. We boast a well-developed and extensive outdoor area with mature trees, which combine to offer a challenging environment. A wide, covered veranda allows free flow from inside to outside areas.
The inside environment allows children to make their own choice of activities, encouraging them to develop skills in all curriculum areas. A quiet area is offered, with a parent information area.
All staff have teaching diplomas, are registered and up to date professionally. We are energetic, enthusiastic, caring and have a sense of fun.
A child-initiated programme is offered that empowers children to learn, grow and develop through contributing their own special strengths and interests. Independence, self help skills and initiative in children are fostered.
Children are encouraged to tidy work areas and care for the environment.
Portfolios, which provide information on the children's ongoing development, are kept on all children and presented to the children's family when they leave kindergarten.
At the end of each session, the children break up into smaller groups, called extension groups. This allows staff to work with smaller groups where the children's individual strengths and interests are recognised and strengthened.
We have an open door policy where families are encouraged to be involved in the daily running of the kindergarten, where their aspirations for their child are respected and supported.
