Welcome to Somerset Kindergarten, a spacious, vibrant and exciting environment where teachers work in partnership with families to create inspiring learning experiences.

Mature trees, children’s gardens, murals, and a unique wet/dry riverbed complete with hand pump enhance our extensive outdoor environment. Children are provided with a wealth of opportunities to play and explore outdoors, developing gross motor skills and respect for Papatuanuku (mother earth) all whilst having fun.

Somerset is a creative kindergarten. Our enthusiastic teachers cater to children’s interests and encourage children to engage their imaginations using a wide variety of resources. Children’s artistic creations adorn our walls and contribute to the vibrant nature of our learning environment. Literacy and numeracy are incorporated into planned and spontaneous play.

The concept of ako, by which we are all learners and teachers, is promoted as parents, whanau and members of the wider community are invited to participate in kindergarten experiences and share their knowledge. We look forward to welcoming you and your child into our community of learners.
