Takaro Kindergarten
About Us
Kia Ora and welcome to Takaro Kindergarten, an open and inclusive learning environment driven by bicultural and multicultural practices.
Guiding children, families and the community to become confident, competent learners and teachers forms the basis of our kindergarten philosophy.
A relaxed and welcoming kindergarten atmosphere helps children and families develop a strong sense of belonging. Families are invited to help plan kindergarten programmes, share their knowledge and participate in kindergarten activities to create authentic learning experiences for children.
Te Reo Maori is spoken freely and integrated throughout our kindergarten
programme. Tangata whenua are supported and Maori are fostered to become successful learners. Ako (learning together) and tuakana/teina (older peer teaching the younger peer) are promoted and celebrated.
Gardens, chickens and a spacious outdoor area help children develop an appreciation for the natural environment. Creativity and problem solving skills are fostered through a rich mix of planned and spontaneous activities and children are encouraged to explore, discover and experiment in an environment supported by a wealth of stimulating resources and nurturing teachers.
We extend an invitation to you to come and experience for yourself the warmth and wairua permeating all aspects of life at Takaro Kindergarten.
